I love kids. They should be coming with smiles to the office if they never visited a dentist before, if their first visit. We just took them around the office and showed them our chairs. We put them in the chair, up and down. We just give them that. And we give them the balloon made with the gloves. And put them in the chair. If they don't want to sit by themselves, we have them sit on Mom or Dad's lap. Play with them. First visit we usually don't really force them to open their mouth. We give them a small mirror to take a look into their mouth and then just get them used to the environment.
Once they open their mouth, we just play with them. Counting their teeth, and we do very little, not invasive, for the first visit. We just want to introduce them to the dental office. We do have new technology to treat the young children with the cavities. It's not invasive. We don't need to drill the tooth. We don't need to look at orthotics.
Say we're doing fluoride. We paint it on the teeth and we stop the progress of the cavities, and then, you know, the kids, you know, the cavities stop there because it's baby teeth. As long as they can just, without progress, they can stay there until the natural time for them to come out, and that's fine. Or when they are looking older, we can do the restoration. But when they are at the younger age, we can just put the medication there, and we don't have to do invasive treatment for that.
